Ellyn H. Hurd joined the firm in January 2002. She focuses her practice in the area of land use, zoning, real estate title and development, municipal law, and civil litigation. Ms. Hurd practices mainly in Bristol, Plymouth, and Dukes County. She represents clients with many kinds of property related issues, including easement rights, grandfather protection, special permits and variances, boundary disputes, and complex title issues. She also represents land owners and developers through the local permitting process. She represented a Boston area developer through the permitting process in connection with the rehabilitation of three large historic mills in New Bedford. In one case, she successfully secured constructive approval of a special permit after the Board’s failure to timely act. In the firm’s role as Town Counsel for the Town of Gosnold, she drafts local by-laws, public bidding documents, as well as drafts opinions to local officials on potential conflicts of interest and other matters.
Ms. Hurd lives in Marion, Mass. with her husband Rob and two young children.
