Shelley D. Coelho joined the firm in January, 2006. She is a graduate of the University of Florida School of Law Graduate Tax Program (LL.M. Taxation) where she was a graduate editor on The Florida Tax Review and North Carolina Central University School of Law, magna cum laude, where she was a member of The North Carolina Central Law Journal. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Justice and Public Policy, with honors, from North Carolina Wesleyan College.

Ms. Coelho is admitted to practice in Massachusetts, North Carolina (currently inactive) and before the United States Tax Court and is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and the Massachusetts Bar Association.

Ms. Coelho is a frequent speaker on topics such as estate planning, business planning and long-term care planning for various organizations, including the Boston Tax Institute and the Massachusetts Bar Association. She was a visiting professor at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and Anna Maria College.

Ms. Coelho’s main areas of practice include taxation, real estate, estate planning. business planning, trusts, estates and guardianships, long-term care and disability planning, including planning for families of children with special needs, advising charitable organizations, including formation and obtaining tax-exempt status and advising donors and organizations with regard to charitable gifts.
