Thomas P. Crotty
began practicing
law in 1977 as
an associate,
and later as a
partner, in the
firm of
Desmarais and
Crotty. He has
been a partner
in our firm
since 1988.
Attorney Crotty
concentrates in
matters
involving the
aged and the
infirm including
guardianship
proceedings,
Medicaid
planning and the
protection of
assets, medical
and nursing home
care, and
related social
services, in
addition to his
long practice in
the areas of
civil litigation
and municipal
law.
Mr. Crotty is a
member of the
Massachusetts
Bar Association
and the National
Academy of Elder
Law Attorneys,
and is a past
president of the
New Bedford Bar
Association
(1990-1992). He
is a member of
the Board of
Directors of the
YMCA of Greater
New Bedford, and
is a former
member of the
school council
of Fairhaven
High School.
Since 1981, Mr.
Crotty has
served as town
counsel for the
towns of
Fairhaven and
Marion and as
general counsel
to the
Carver-Marion-Wareham
Regional Refuse
Disposal
District and the
Mattapoisett
River Valley
Water District.
Mr. Crotty has
tried cases in
the state and
federal trial
courts, has
argued appellate
matters in the
State Appeals
Court and
Supreme Judicial
Court, and he
has tried
matters before
numerous state
administrative
agencies and
arbitration
panels. He has
served as an
arbitrator for
the American
Arbitration
Association and
as a private
arbitrator and
mediator. Mr.
Crotty has also
served as a
panel member in
continuing legal
education and
has conducted
in-service
training
seminars for
medical care
providers on
legal issues in
patient care.
Mr. Crotty
received his
Bachelor of Arts
degree from
Bridgewater
State College in
1972 and
graduated from
Boston College
Law School in
1977. |
